LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT CONSULTING SERVICES

It's the People

It is imperative for organizations of all types to analyze the ever-changing business and socio-economic conditions that are in play. It is no different for those of us who consult. The initial approach CMA & Associates took was centered on improving a client’s profitability using TQM methods to affect operational improvements. Greater efficiency meant reduced costs and higher margins and/or additional working capital. We’ve seen Six Sigma, Six Sigma Lean and DMAIC all move to the forefront as the method of choice. (By the way, does DMAIC – Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control differ much from the original TQM approach? Just wondering …)

Traditional project management methods have moved to an Agile philosophy that delivers a minimum viable product using an iterative approach that resembles … DMAIC … which uses the basic TQM principles … what was old is new again. (There will be those who disagree with that, I know). Now much focus is on “digital transformation.”
The one consistent ingredient in all of this are the people who are involved. That’s why we’ve changed our consulting focus on the people who make things happen. We’ve identified the greatest need to be servant leaders who are people centric and strongly principled. They need to be discovered, developed and placed in key leadership positions at all levels of an organization.
They are the types of people who put the daily needs of their team members ahead of their own. Who advertise success as the team’s without mentioning themselves. Unfortunately, this kind of individual, who was a rare find to begin with, is moving toward extinction.
The most successful enterprises will continue to be those who embrace the need for servant leadership and consistently practice it. They will understand that the cumulative success of each and every individual provides for the success of the organization as a whole – which makes those individuals the most important of all.

"The responsibility of a company is to serve the customer. The responsibility of leadership is to serve their people so that their people may better serve the customer. If leaders fail to serve their people first, both customer and company will suffer.” - Simon Sinek (author, motivational speaker and marketing consultant)

"Employees who believe that management is concerned about them as a whole person – not just an employee – are more productive, more satisfied, more fulfilled. Satisfied employees mean satisfied customers, which leads to profitability.”
- Anne M. Mulcahy (former CEO of Xerox)
